Yoni Steaming: A Sacred Ritual of Reconnection

There is something incredibly powerful about taking time to simply be with yourself.
As women, we spend so much of our lives giving our energy to others—our families, our work, our relationships, our communities—that we can slowly become disconnected from our own inner landscape. We become busy, we harden, we keep moving forward, often forgetting to pause and ask ourselves what we truly need.
This is one of the reasons I feel so passionate about sharing yoni steaming.
As a women's empowerment facilitator, I have witnessed the incredible shifts that can happen when women are simply given permission to slow down. To breathe. To soften. To listen. Whether through sound journeys, women's circles, retreats or intimate rituals, I believe healing often begins when we create space to reconnect with ourselves.
For me, yoni steaming is one of those beautiful rituals.
It isn't about changing or fixing our bodies.
It's about creating a sacred moment to honour them.
More Than Steam
Yoni steaming is an ancient-inspired practice that uses warm herbal steam around the external pelvic and yoni area.
While many women enjoy it as part of their self-care routine, I see it as something much deeper.
It becomes a ceremony.
A quiet invitation to slow down and return home to yourself.
Throughout our lives we carry experiences within our bodies—joy, grief, heartbreak, pleasure, stress, birth, loss, love, disappointment, change and transformation. Whether we understand these experiences as emotional, energetic or simply part of being human, many women describe feeling as though they carry the weight of life within their womb space.
A yoni steam offers an opportunity to sit with yourself compassionately.
To breathe.
To release.
To remember.
A Ritual of Women's Empowerment
When I guide women through rituals and retreats, I often speak about reclaiming our feminine wisdom.
For generations many women have been taught to disconnect from this part of themselves—to hide it, criticise it, rush it or ignore it altogether.
I believe our yoni deserves something very different.
She deserves gratitude.
Tenderness.
Respect.
Presence.
Whether you call it your womb space, your feminine centre or simply your body, this part of you has carried your experiences throughout your life.
Creating a ritual around it can become an act of profound self-respect.
When Might You Choose to Steam?
There are no rules.
Only intention.
You may feel called to create this ritual when you want to:
reconnect with yourself
create space for self-love
honour your feminine body
gently release emotional heaviness
mark the ending of a relationship or chapter
welcome a new beginning
reconnect with sensuality and creativity
spend quiet time in reflection
deepen your spiritual practice
simply slow down and nourish yourself
Every steam is different because every woman arrives with a different intention.
Creating Your Ceremony
Rather than rushing through the experience, I encourage women to treat their yoni steam as they would a meditation or sacred ritual.
Light a candle.
Play calming music.
Journal beforehand.
Pull an oracle card.
Sit in silence.
Offer yourself loving words.
Allow yourself to simply receive.
The herbs, warmth and stillness become part of something much bigger—the act of choosing yourself.
The Herbs I Love Working With
The blend I use brings together beautiful herbs and flowers traditionally associated with feminine rituals, softness and relaxation.
Rose — love, compassion and the opening of the heart
Lavender — peace and calm
Calendula — gentle nurturing
Chamomile — soothing and comfort
Red Clover — traditionally associated with feminine wellbeing
Mugwort — long connected with feminine spirituality and intuition
Sage — cleansing and renewal
Hibiscus — beauty, vitality and feminine expression
I always encourage women to approach herbs with respect. Although natural, they can still be powerful and should always be used mindfully.
What You May Experience
Every woman experiences yoni steaming differently.
Some simply feel warmth and relaxation.
Others describe feeling deeply grounded, emotional, peaceful or connected to themselves in a way they haven't experienced for a long time.
There is no right experience.
There is nothing to achieve.
The invitation is simply to be present with whatever arises.
My Intention
Everything I share through my work—whether it's sound healing, women's circles, retreats or yoni steaming—comes back to one simple intention:
Helping women remember themselves, to connect to the inner Goddess.
Not who the world expects them to be.
But who they are underneath the roles, responsibilities, conditioning and constant busyness.
Because I truly believe that when a woman feels safe enough to soften, she also becomes powerful.
Not through striving.
But through remembering her own wisdom and connecting to her True Nature.
Important Safety Information
Do not use a yoni steam if you are early stages of pregnancy, have an infection, irritation, unusual discharge, pain, sores or broken skin.
Avoid steaming after surgery or internal procedures until advised it is safe to do so.
If you have an IUD, a gynaecological condition, or are unsure whether yoni steaming is appropriate for you, seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional first.
Steam should always feel comfortably warm—not hot—and is for external use only. Never insert herbs, water or any objects into the vagina.
Stop immediately if you experience burning, pain, irritation or discomfort.
